Who we are
ECSI is a dynamic research group that works closely with industries, business associations and public bodies in the Basque Country, Spain and Europe in order to facilitate a sustainable transition towards the circular economy and renewable energies. The main objective of this research group is to help industries increase resource efficiency, reduce their environmental footprint and improve their economic and social performance. The only way to become truly circular and sustainable is to generate a net positive impact. For this reason, we incorporate the life cycle perspective and multidisciplinary experience into our research projects through a systemic approach. The research group is made up of experts from the fields of industrial design engineering and product development, industrial organisation engineering, environmental engineering, corporate social responsibility and business management and project management. Therefore, we can cover the entire innovation cycle of industrial projects, from the conceptualisation of products and technologies to experimentation and development, and their large-scale deployment, including the development of new technological business models and industrial value chains. Always from a circular and sustainable perspective in order to promote a positive change towards production and consumption systems that involve a more efficient use of resources, are carbon neutral and, ultimately, facilitate sustainable development. More specifically, the ECSI research group develops its activity in four main lines of action.
